 Fire-Fighting
The fire-fighting equipment, which is operative 24 hours on 24, consists in a station located at the terminal entrance, 4 bunkers (one for each wharf), 33 (also called “Monitors”), 10 punt-gun /duck-cannons, and a cold lane, one for each wharf. Various sensors are located on the wharves which, in case of abnormal temperatures, automatically activate the fire-fighting system. This system employs a combination of sea water and foam which allow to rapidly extinguish the flames, once the system has been activated.

Besides the ordinary week verifications, the fire-fighting system efficiency is tested during monthly fire drills, where various accidental scenarios are simulated in turn (fire in booster area, fire on a ship ect.).
