 Our Terminal
The harbour terminal (44°25'.IN; 8°49'.7E) which extends on a surface of 123.000 square metres (sheets of water not included) is composed of a quay whose operative length is about 400 metres, and of four wharves which are perpendicular to the coast: Alfa, Beta, Gamma and Delta.

Besides these berts, there are also a monobuoy mark and an offshore unloading platform. This platform, which is named “the Island” is 1,5 miles away from the shore, at a 50 metres depth and it is linked to the coast by a submarine oil pipeline having a 120 centimetres diameter, which allows oil tankers having a capacity load of 500,000 tonnes to unload.

 Products handling
The handling activity of crude oil and its by-products occurs as follows:

  • 1. receiving ship
  • 2. check of the ship's conformity to security requirements in   collaboration with the Harbour Office
  • 3. ship's connection to the arm loads and starting of the unloading/loading operations
  • 4. monitoring of the regularity and security of the above operations
  • 5. ship's taking off and making safe the lines of finished goods and petrochemical products (clearing operations and closing valves)

  • Inside Genoa's Porto Petroli unloading operations are largely performed: the current trend comes close to a yearly handling of around 15 million tonnes of oil products which are transported by a medium of 500 various tonnage ships.

    Net of oil pipelines

Our terminal, thanks to a complex net of oil pipelines, supplies various refineries in Northern Italy as well as a Swiss refinery in Aigle. Inside Porto Petroli we do not perform neaither any treatment of debarked oil products nor any stoking activities on the same products. Our harbour area tanks are exclusively destined for the store of water, of oily residues to be rcecycled and of foam extinguisher for fire-fighting facilities.
